'Sewing Assemblage'

This project began with my purchase of a $14 Tim Holtz Idea-ology Configurations Print Tray. The tray measures 16" x 11.5" and has 21 individual compartments that can be arranged to the design you desire. I lined each compartment with scrapbook paper, covered all the edges with washi tape and Mod Podged the entire thing to seal it (and keep the washi tape from coming un-stuck). Like most of my 'dream' projects, this box sat in my craft room for many months waiting for me to do something with it. In the meantime, I collected vintage sewing items at Funky Junk and SewGreen in Ithaca, NY and gathered parts from my miniatures stash. Wendy at SewGreen contributed the gorgeous little velvet strawberry on the bottom row (did she have any idea that I'm a strawberry addict???) My girlfriend, Ellen, made the adorable little clothespin doll many years ago. Most of the items are permanently glued down. There are a few items that I couldn't decide 100% on that aren't glued. When I create an assemblage, I find it extremely difficult to know when to stop adding stuff! Now I'd like to make several more with different themes . . . vintage Christmas is a must!
